Ellen Lee
Ellen is our Senior Associate in Stockholm. Following an agnostic approach, she is especially passionate about developer and data tools as well as companies delivering user-centric experiences.
Born and raised in Taiwan, I've consistently charted an unconventional course in life. I grew up with an insatiable curiosity, constantly seeking out exciting and unpredictable opportunities which led me to my first job at a headhunting firm's call centre. This formative experience revealed the remarkable speed at which genuine connections can form when conversations are truly engaging. Following this, I did a summer internship in business development at an international consumer bank which planted the seeds of my fascination with product innovation.

After I graduated from university I moved to London for my master's degree - an experience that not only marked my first adventure beyond Asia but also ignited a series of experiences yet to come. Immersed in a vibrant new setting, I was captivated by the abundance of diverse ideas, relentless curiosity, myriad perspectives, and their transformative influence on shaping and challenging my own thoughts. It was clear to me that my aspirations would take me to companies that could foster such an environment.

I started my career at a Nordic dairy company, working in Denmark, Germany, and China, and rotating between various business functions in strategy, innovation, and commercial. As much as I loved working for a consumer brand and seeing new products materialize, I realized that I thrive in smaller, agile organizations with short development cycles and frequent, iterative processes. The notion of working in a tech startup began to intrigue me and a couple of months later I made a bold decision to quit my job, enroll in a coding boot camp, and embark on a journey as a developer at a fintech startup in Stockholm. Eventually, I transitioned into the PM role where I helped launch new products in the Nordic markets and worked closely with teams of designers, developers, and data analysts.

When Staffan reached out to me it was an instant click. Even though investing was new to me, I joined Creandum and understand every day, even more, why the decision back then felt so easy. At Creandum everyone’s perspective matters. We are a group of people with mixed experiences and backgrounds who compensate and challenge each other.

I always like to see the possibility in the atypical, to explore the story of a person and see the passion in what they do. That’s probably also why I love trying out new restaurants (fun fact: I track a list of the world’s 50 best restaurants and sometimes even plan my vacation around them). It's akin to experiencing the chef's story through their creations and savoring a taste of their passion. Investing, for me, isn’t that different.
